The Octopus’s Garden hostel is located in the center of La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, a typical Mexican village. It is only a few minutes walk from the Marina, the beaches, the shops and the restaurants and a short bus ride to a wider choice of amenities (banks and shopping-mall). The nice and affordable accommodation combines the easygoing features of a welcoming hostel with the basic comfort we expect from a home. The rooms and the facilities are newly renovated and the fully equipped kitchen is at the guests’ disposal.
The maximum capacity of 20 people makes it the perfect destination for those looking for a quiet retreat to enjoy this beautiful spot and the activities that the hostel has to offer.
In the garden the restaurant and bar are open through the winter season with live music. Depending on the schedule all sorts of workshops are available for guests: yoga, meditation, Tai Chi as well as concerts and dance nights. The Huichol art gallery also looks out onto the garden offering the chance to see and buy examples of the craftsmanship from these remarkable indigenous people.
The direct bus connection from Puerto Vallarta airport (PVR) takes 45 minutes to get only one block from the hostel.
The “Garden Room” situated at the ground floor is fully accessible to those who have limited mobility and provided with a ramp for wheelchairs.

General House Rules

We expect you to be polite and collaborative with the other guests and the staff. The hostel however reserves the right to refuse accommodation – without any refunds given – to any guest that breaks the following regulations as well as any other law, or acts in a disrespectful or inappropriate way. In case of any objections to the quality of services provided, the guest is kindly requested to report them as soon as possible. Please help us make your stay as comfortable as possible.

  • Reception time from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Check-in time from 3 p.m.
  • Early Check-in available (if you arrive before 3 p.m. you’re welcome to stay in the common areas while waiting for your room to be ready)
  • Check-out time is 11 a.m. unless it is arranged otherwise. If this time limit is exceeded the guest shall be charged accordingly
  • Cancellation policy: For direct bookings on the Octopus Garden website, a 30% deposit is collected at the time of booking, and the remaining 70% will be collected three days before arrival.
    Cancellation to a booking is free three days before arrival, and the 30% deposit will be refunded in full. Between 72 hours and the day of arrival the full amount is collected and non refundable.
    For bookings on other online travel agency channels, cancellation policies on these channels apply.
  • It is possible to extend the hostel stay before 10 a.m. on the last day of stay given the availability
  • Visitors are allowed in the garden and in the bar and restaurant areas, not in the private hostel ones
  • No curfew applies but the night silence ought to be followed from 11 p.m. till 7 a.m.
  • The guest holds material responsibility for any loss or damage to hotel property caused by themselves and their guests
  • Smoking is only allowed in designated areas.
  • In the rooms it’s not allowed:
    – To light candles, incense or mosquito coils
    – To consume drink or food
  • Due to sanitary reasons guests are not allowed to use sleeping bags
  • No sex in the dormitories and “one-bed/one-person” policy is in force
  • The presence of pets or any other special needs should be discussed in advance
  • No unaccompanied minors or person without any valid ID card or passport will be accepted as a guest
