Greetings from Justo Benítes of the Indigenous Community of Zitakua in the Municipio of Tepic, Nayarit. 14/01/2013
This piece is a curious collage of several art forms; at the center is a mirror, this is an ancient reference to the window to another world. Next are combined a layer of printed Huichol art, taken from one of the T-shirts printed here at the Octopus´s Garden, and a border of very traditional Huichol embroidery. The whole is combined by the use of yarn as in paintings, and even some beadwork.
